The U.S.S. Defiant sickbay stands ready to handle all kinds of medical problems among the ship's crew. Especially during times of war with the Dominion, sickbay has been vital in treating casulties, which are frequent during battle. Suffice to say Dr Bashir usually has his hands full.

As the starship's medical centre; serving the 50 crew members, it has the standard equipment one would expect to find on one of Starfleet's finest ships - although compared to sickbays found on larger ships, it is quite spartan in layout, it doesn't even include seating or a work desk for the doctor. Sickbay includes a surgical centre, recovery units as well as a full stock of medical instruments, equipments and drugs. Sickbay contains two standard beds and a biobed; each of the biobeds is equipped with medical sensors that constantly monitor the condition of the patient at the bed's head.

Against the wall of the main biobed is a massive information panel where the doctor can monitor more complex readings. Also this terminal is tied into the ships medical database, this allows the doctor to cross reference his findings with the vast ammount of data that has been gathered by Starfleet Medical.
