a vital meeting is held to discuss how to deal with the borg

On a busy starship even the captain sometimes needs a quiet place to think, away from the rest of the crew. On the new U.S.S. Enterprise-E, this is provided by the observation lounge.

On every UFP starship, it is vital there is a decicated area where the captain and the senior staff can hold important meetings and breifings in private, away from the rest of the crew and the general day to day duties. On the new sovereign class starship this function is served by the observation lounge, a moderate-sized multi purposed room furnished in familiar Starfleet neutral tones

The observation lounge of the Enterprise-E is located at the top of the ship on deck 1, and can be reached through either of the two doors which lead off the rear of the main bridge. On entering the observation lounge, personel decend a small staircase from either door; the lounge is at a slightly lower level than the deck of the main bridge.

Breifing Room Function

The main function of the observation lounge is that is used as a briefing room. The lounge contains at least six high backed grey chairs, enough to accommodate the captain and each member of the senior staff. The chairs are arranged so that the captain sits at the head of the long, gently curving conference table. This table is relativley narrow, ensuring that all personal present at the meeting can hear each other clearly and easily view data and documents important to the discussion. The centre of the table top is softly lit from beneath by a white light. Apart from the table, the room contains no other furniture and is fairly spartan, making sure there is little to distract staff from the meeting in progress.

Museum Function

The observation lounge also serves as a small informal museum. Along a wall facing the windows is a large display case exhibiting commendations, memorabilia of past missions and golden models of the previous ships named Enterprise.
