The sickbay of U.S.S. Voyager is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a radical new departure for Starfleet ships - The Emergency Medical Hologram.
The sickbay of the U.S.S. Voyager is located on deck 5 along with the doctor's office, sensor gear and escape pod access. As the starship's medical centre; serving the 150 crew members, it has th standard equipment one would expect to find on one of Starfleet's finest ships. This includes a surgical centre, recovery units and specialised treatment rooms as well as a full stock of medical instruments, equipments and drugs. Sickbay contains three standard beds and a biobed; each of the biobeds is equipped with medical sensors that constantly monitor the condition of the patient. Monitor readouts are at the bed's foot as well as its head.
the emh program used aboard voyager was intended for short term use only, but has become a valued member of the crew
The doctor's office is to one side of the main sickbay ward. It is a drumshaped room with a clear wall that can look out into the main area, allowing medical staff to keep a close eye on their patients at all times. On the other side of the office is a fully equipped medial laboratory.
The Emergency Medical Hologram, one of the latest pieces of technology the U.S.S. voyager possesses, has turned out to be one of the most vital. The EMH is programmed with the knowledge of hundreds of organic doctors from across the federation, including the biological and sociological features of many races; it is intended to be a short term replacement for, or supplemental to, a 'real' medical officer. However when the U.S.S. Voyager is brought to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker, all the medical personel, including the cheif medical officer and the head nurse are killed. Because the ship is so far from home, Voyager has no way of replacing these crew members. The EMH, working far beyond its design parameters, has has become a permanent member of the crew.

- LABOROTORY
Although this station doesn't cover a large area, the doctor can perform many different functions here, including lab analysis - DOCTOR'S
OFFICE
The main office for the on duty doctor is circular with a computer display panel behind the desk. Breifings with his or her assistant or consultations with patients can also be carried out here. The office has windows on each side to oversee the main sickbay area - PRIMARY
BIOBED
With a large area and the ability to form a sterile field around it, the primary biobed is where most important operations take place. A forcefield can be applied to this area to protect a patient or staff member from any adverse reactions to medication, to quarantine them, or to stop them from escaping - HOLOEMITTERS
The U.S.S. Voyager uses an EMH in sickbay. This device is made possible by the stragic placing of holoemitters all around sickbay - BIOBEDS
The most common sight in a sickbay is the boibed, Biobeds are virtually self contained medical units in themselves; each has a clamshell device which makes the operating area a sterile theatre, and complete diagnostic reading are avaliable on nearby displays
